[E3 2013] Dead Rising 3 - "Open World Zombie Apocalypse"

Do you like zombies?
Who am I kidding? Everyone LOVE zombies! There's a reason why there are a lot of zombie-themed games, movies, and comic books out there and that reason is not Zombie is hated by people.
And I bet you love zombie too, right?
And possibly you've heard about one of those Zombie game, Dead Rising.

Dead Rising put you in the shoe of non-Zombie in the middle of area filled with zombies. You will reveal the mystery how this zombie outbreak happens. You will meet a lot of other survivors which may or may not useful for you. There are a lot of events too. There are boss battle, meeting survivors, or something that relevant to the story. But beware, all this are time strict which mean if you pass the supposed time, then you miss the event. In a lot of way this could mean 'hello, bad ending.'

And now, Dead Rising is back with Dead Rising 3. This latest installment will give you yet another new character which I can't remember the name. Dead Rising 3 will feature a huge open world area instead of a small like a mall in Dead Rising or some entertainment area in Dead Rising 2.

Say, cheese!

This huge area means a lot of running around but hey, the game let us drive! And since it is troublesome to walk around the city in the Real Live, then car is also be a preferred method of transport in Dead Rising 3.

These cars are not super by any means. The zombie can slow the car down and even hanging on the car. This is bad since they can break the window and attack you from that position! And be careful while driving. The car can and will be broken. I know it! None of us gamers will take care of their cars on games like this. It will be broken. Trust me.

Hello, have you heard about our Lord?

With open world, come interactivity. Player can get around a lot of places and building. And houses are not an exception. The front door is locked? No worries pal, use the roof! They have some unsecured useless piece of glass installed up there. What these for you ask? Why, for us to break it and get inside of course!

Who told you to put this on the roof?

As with Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising 3 sees the return of makeshift weapons. With, they said, hundreds of weapons scattered around the city, it will be up to player to modified it as they see fit. God bless the duct tape!

You have a gun. You have a flashlight. It's hard to use them both. Solution? Wrap them together with duct tape! You got yourself a Tactical Handgun!

You have a sledgehammer. You have a circular saw. You want to use both. Why? Forget I'm asking, I don't care about the reason. We have Duct Tape! Go and make some Hammer Saw!

Duct tape, friend for every need.
Okay pal, don't worry. My duct tape can put you back together. Maybe.
When handling gun, you can use it in two way. You like to aim and hit a specific spot to cripple these Zeds? Use the over the shoulder view. Point it and shoot! I hope you got a good aim.

Or maybe you are in a hurry. Zombies are on your back and you don't have time to aim. That's nasty. Use the lock-on feature. Hold a button (I guess) and you will automatically aim your gun to some zombies. Pull the trigger and be happy! Trigger happy! You can do this while running.

Near and personal
Far and, still, personal

Like almost every other games on E3, Dead Rising 3 also incorporate SmartGlass to the game. I don't know how far they have make it but on this demo player can get some help from Smartglass by dropping some artillery from the air. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! And bye-bye zeds.

Okay... That's almost hit me. Gotta be careful next time.

From the demo I must say Dead Rising is quite promising. Zombie Apocalypse haven't seen open world before and this is what zombies fans are waiting for. Going around the city, rundown all the zombies, find survivor, and staying alive, in any way you want.

As a fans of Zombie Apocalypse theme and a personal fan of Dead Rising title, I'm really looking forward to this next Dead Rising. We haven't seen the unique feature of Dead rising series which is timed event yet. Let's hope it's still in development and they don't forget to add those. Because those time strict events really give sense of urgency to you. And without it, this is not really a Dead Rising game.

You can watch the demo below. Enjoy!
